Enabling Skills

The course aimed to enable the students to acquire the fundamental skills for doing architectural research and evaluation. We learned to gather information and presented in several formats. There was a list of building case studies which are significant contemporarily that helps our understanding of different building styles and their contribution to the industry.

My selection was Gehry Residence by Frank Gehry. This is an exemplary work of residential extension, use of industrial materials and the structure exposure, a sense of in-process.

Apart from word description, we need to make visual description by making 3D models in SketchUp based on the information we gathered in the first stage. Then we made animations for presenting the building. At last, we made a booklet to lay out the whole process of the research.
